Why is Birth My Passion?
I grew up in a small rural town in Missouri where birth was considered a normal and natural part of life. Influenced by a community that included many Amish families, I was surrounded by strong women who gave birth at home, without epidurals, and without fear. Pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care were part of everyday life, and I saw firsthand how capable women are when they’re supported and trusted.
That experience shaped my perspective: birth is not a medical emergency—it’s a powerful and transformative process. When I later entered more traditional medical systems, I was surprised by how much fear and self-doubt surrounded birth. I began to hear stories of women feeling unheard, unsure, and disconnected from their own strength. That contrast pushed me toward birth work—I wanted to be part of changing that experience.
At some point—though I can’t say exactly when—I knew I would become a midwife. That calling has only grown stronger. While I continue on my path toward midwifery, I’m honored to support families as a certified Doula and Infant & Maternal Care Specialist.
My training and background include:
Doula certification with Lindsey Meehlis, CPM
Infant & Maternal Care Specialist training with Valentina Caputo, IBCLC
Breech Release Training with Nicole Morales and Jamie Mossay
Spinning Babies® Workshop (optimal fetal positioning and bodywork techniques)
A lifetime of hands-on experience growing up around natural birth, postpartum care, and infant support
